On 1 August 2017, Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles H.E. Mme. Yu Jinsong called on Mrs. Mitcy Larue, new Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture of Seychelles. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral cooperation in culture.
Mrs. Larue said in recent years, cultural exchanges between the two countries have been deepened and Seychellois people have had opportunities to get to know Chinese culture with a number of Chinese art groups visiting Seychelles. She hopes China will continue to help Seychelles inherit and promote Creole culture.
Ambassador Yu congratulated on Mrs. Larue's inauguration. She highly appreciated the achievements of bilateral cooperation in culture in the past year. She said the Embassy will strengthen communication and coordination with Department of Culture to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and push forward bilateral cooperation in culture.
They also discussed on the first ever Laserenad Enternasyonal de Victoria to be held at the end of October. The event is a combination of the Carnaval Internationale de Victoria and the Laserenad Festival Kreol.
